Happy Frugal Valentine’s Day!, Frugal February Day 14

Happy day of love, sweet friends! I hope you feel extra special today and I hope you’ve had the chance to feel loved and to make someone else in your life feel loved.

Today was a wonderful yet busy day.

I woke up, did my normal morning routine (coffee, trying to pry my eyes open while watching a bit of youtube), you know the norm. Then I got going and made the kids pancakes. My batter was not going to have it being made into hearts so I made normal wonky shaped pancakes and then used a cookie cutter to make them into hearts.

It was nice to have a fun meal with the whole family before Nick flew out to South Carolina, I left for work, and the kids got going on school work.

I gave the kids some small treats. It was truly the world’s cheapest Valentine’s Day.

I know I was asking you all in one of the last posts if I should spend money on them and in the end I decided not to buy anything else.

Here’s what I gave everyone:

I had purchased barrettes for Emma for $0.79. I had gotten a yoda pez dispenser for Cal’s easter basket but decided I could give it to him now. Like the barrettes it was from a discount grocery store and cost me $0.99. I gave them each a fruit by the foot type thing. I had bought a bag of 20 of them for .99 so we’ll call those 5 cents a piece.

I gave Nick a heart of reese’s cups that I had found at the discount grocery store in December. It was $.99. I miss him so much and can’t wait for him to get home from his audit.

So total if you are keeping track I spent $2.87 on Valentine’s Day. Not the classiest day but I was able to give everyone a little something to show I was thinking of them.

Groceries and gas today were definitely bought. Nick had to get gas on the way to the airport and I filled up this evening at Costco. I popped into Costco for some groceries. I bought the kids tortellini for a “fancy” valentine’s dinner and I splurged on these chocolate mousse cups. They were 6 for $7.49 which I thought was a good deal.

I also bought 2 gallons of milk from flashfood. It is such an amazing deal to get a gallon of milk for only $2.00!

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! You are loved beyond measure, friends!
