Things That Made Me Smile This Week

The week that holds Labor Day is always a rough one. I swear my body just wants to still be on vacation. This week was jam packed with Nutcracker rehearsals, school assignments, I had a big work project partnering with Habitat for Humanity (love working with them!), and all of the laundry from the long weekend at the lake. Nothing earth shattering but coupled with the normal work, booth restocking, house cleaning, three therapy appointments, and meetings, it was a lot. I feel pretty crazy accepting a spot at the Artisan’s Market coming up, but I found out this morning that I was officially accepted so I’m pretty jazzed about that! All that to say, there is just a lot going on around here.

What about in your neck of the woods? How are things looking for you? Are you busy too or are you just chill and vibing with it all?

While I was not able to post every single day this week, I was happy with the amount I’ve been posting on here. Even if no one reads this right now I am practicing consistency, practicing gratitude by being intentional, and creating a place for our memories to live for our children.

It is so easy to have a week speed by with everything going on and not really notice the moments around us, but this act of writing made me pull my camera out more to document life, to really see God’s blessing around us.

That being said, here is a snippet of the week through things that made me happy:

One morning I surprised the kids with Sorghum cookies and hot cocoa when they came home from school. We snuggled on the couch and ready Ivan the Great.

We found the first cider of the season at a small farm outside of town. I was so happy to be able to grab the last gallon. It was only $4 a gallon and so crisp and clean tasting!

Still enamored with my new mug. I am a nut when it comes to cute mugs.

A rare sighting of Cal. This guy is almost 6 feet tall now but still loves playing with his dog, Leroy.

Why did this make me laugh so much when I saw it at our antique mall? Because, as Nick put it, I am a 6th grade boy. Oh goodness.

In visiting Rentown this week I felt time slow a little and I could notice the little things. This shot makes me want to go explore and helps me feel curious. Job well done.

My good friend Jessica and I fit in a working lunch at a fave coffee shop of ours. She brought me this amazing grab bag which was full of so many wonderful goodies! It knocked my socks off with how cute it is! Be sure to check out her shop for all of her many cute items!

Brought this guy home for my nightly bubble baths. Yes, I am 5.

These flowers made me smile.

Iced tea lattes from Sweetea’s Tea Shop make me smile. I ordered a new stock of their make at home kits and I have been treating myself to one every Friday. I also had one Labor Day to inspire myself to get through homeschool planning. I’ve had the cinnamon roll and the London Fog so far and they are delicious.

This view made me feel so blessed to be able to see it. To have our cottage. To have our good friends. It’s all smile worthy.

So those are some of the things that made me smile this week. As I type this we have Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls in the oven and we’re planning on going to an artisan market this morning and then a Cubs game tonight. Life is so busy but it is also full of wonderful and beautiful things. I hope this inspired you to take the time and see the goodness and beauty in your world. And share! I’d love to see what makes you smile.

Love you friends!
